About Family Pathways

Helping Families Thrive

My private practice has grown from my experiences in working with young people, and their families, in schools and universities. My work has also been influenced by my research into the lives of families, children and adolescents, and my lived experience: I am a mother of 3 young adults, I have lived and worked in rural and regional communities for over 35 years, and I am an active volunteer with Lifeline, The Smith Family and with the St Vincent de Paul Society.

The name Family Pathways has a special significance for me. I see family - the one we're born into, the one we create, and the one we choose - as the most important influence on our lives. For better or worse, our closest relationships shape who we are who and who we become. And in turn, those relationships are affected by the communities in which we learn, work and play.

I have a love of hiking and travel - for the joy of being in beautiful surroundings, and for the adventure of not knowing what lies ahead. Even so, I know the importance of having a map to guide me along the right path.

Life's challenges can sometimes make us feel like we have lost our way but counselling can offer a map to understand ourselves, our relationships, our choices and our decisions.

Therapeutic Approach

Within a broader Family Systems approach, I choose therapeutic interventions that address your specific needs. I focus on identifying and building on the existing strengths of individuals, couples and families, while providing practical strategies to help make positive changes.

I use a combination of therapies, tailored to each person’s needs, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

  • Solutions Focused Brief Therapy

  • Motivational Interviewing

I am committed to creating a safe and supportive space where you can talk openly, gain insight, and work towards lasting change.

If you are ready to take the next step in your personal or family’s journey, I’d be honoured to help guide you along the way.
